Fall is just around the corner and there is nothing quite as exciting as the Friday Night Lights shining down upon players, coaches and fans inside Warrior Stadium. Friday night football in Harrison City is top notch. When the lights go down though, there are few options for the teenagers in our community who wish to gather together with friends after the game. Enter The After Party, a fun, safe and free form of nightlife for the nearly 4,000 high school students who have attended this event since its inception in August 2014.
Now in its fifth year, The After Party offers a Friday night hangout after all Penn Trafford High School home football games. We open the doors to students after halftime and close at midnight. The night includes food and beverages, live music, outdoor games, a bonfire, and prizes. Our location is a short walk from Warrior Stadium. Bags are checked at the door; no open containers are allowed inside; and security and adult supervision (with clearances) are on hand.
The After Party was created by teens and adults from our St. Barbara Parish Youth Ministry. This event has also proven to be a staple in our PT community with continued support from our pastor, Father Michael Sikon, parishioners, students and parents, as well as Dr. Matthew Harris, superintendent; Tony Aquilio, high school principal; District Magistrate Judge Helen Kistler; and the other faithful small businesses and organizations who have served as sponsors.
As one of the largest Catholic Churches in the Diocese of Greensburg, we strive to fulfill our mission by creating an environment where all feel welcome. In the words of St. Benedict, "Let all guests be received as Christ."
